Your first session is free and subsequently £3 per week. Saturday 16th September, repeated on Wednesday 27th 
Bradford Cathedral, Chapter House, both 3pm - 5.15pm

Led by Dr Alison Woolley, Director of Seeds of Silence

These free workshops are aimed at those with either no experience of the traditional Christian spiritual discipline of silence-based prayer, or those with a little experience who would like to explore this further.

Each workshop will

explore the word ‘silence’ and its different meanings
discuss why developing a discipline of silence can be helpful
try out several different Christian meditative practices
offer an overview of the history of Christian practices of silence

There will also be

opportunity for discussion and feedback
printed resources based on the meditations for you to take away
signposting to other Christian organisations to support your in this practice
books about silence and developing this discipline for you to browse
a list of suggested books and DVD's about silence for you to take away

Places limited to 16 for each workshop.

On Wednesday 27th September, 7pm the Cathedral is also screening In Pursuit of Silence, a meditative exploration of our relationship with silence and sound, followed by a performance of John Cage's iconic work, 4′33″, and a discussion.  End time around 9.15pm. Tickets £5 on the door.

Based at the King's Park Centre in Northampton, the three day residential programme employs a variety of approaches including practical sessions, group work and workshops led by practitioners.

It is designed for lay and ordained ministers across the denominations who may be entering a rural appointment for the first time, or who may already be in rural ministry but feel the need for a ‘refresher’.

  • Mission and growth
  • Leadership
  • Working with children and young people in the countryside
