I became a Methodist through marriage in 1985, having been a member of the Anglican community throughout my childhood and formative years. I was a member at Ebenezer Bailiffe Bridge, which sadly closed in September 2012 and I have as yet to transfer my allegiance elsewhere. I do have strong connections with Central Brighouse where my husband is a member. In 2006, despite declaring that being a Local Preacher was not for me, I was admitted as a Local Preacher and have led worship throughout Calderdale and several churches in Bradford. In 2010 I volunteered to be the Local Preacher tutor – we currently have four Local Preachers on trial – I enjoy the fellowship, the discussions, the exchange of ideas and revisiting Faith and Worship which I found very interesting and challenging the first time round – even more so the second and third times round. Sadly the failing health of aged family members has not allowed time for personal studying this year but I still undertake some work for the RSPCA (someone has to rehome the kittens). I just about keep up with an allotment and manage to fit in long and short breaks with my husband in our motorhome and, weather permitting, squeeze in varying length of walks with my family and an aging Jack Russell.
